J.F. Lehman & Company Announces New Hire and Promotions

NEW YORK – J.F. Lehman & Company, a leading middle-market private equity firm focused on the defense, aerospace and maritime sectors, is pleased to announce the addition of David S. Gorton as Vice President, the promotions of Michael Friedman and William Hanenberg to Senior Associate and the promotions of David Thomas, James Michaud and David Silberstein to Associate.

Mr. Gorton joined J.F. Lehman & Company in January 2012 from Tailwind Capital, where he held a similar position. During his three years at Tailwind, David supported a number of transactions including the acquisition of Oceus Networks, formerly known as Ericcson Federal, a unit of Ericsson Inc. which provides broadband and wireless communications solutions to the U.S. government including the Department of Defense and intelligence community. Prior to joining Tailwind, David was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers, where he worked on a number of aerospace and defense transactions, and an attorney in the mergers & acquisitions practice at Skadden Arps. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Vanderbilt University and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law. Mr. Gorton will be involved in all aspects of the firm's business, from identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities to active involvement in the oversight of the firm's portfolio companies.

Mr. Friedman joined J.F. Lehman & Company in 2007 as a Senior Analyst. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Friedman was an Investment Banking analyst in the Aerospace & Defense Group at Jeffries & Company, Inc. Mr. Friedman graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hanenberg joined J.F. Lehman & Company in 2008 as a Senior Analyst. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hanenberg was at Banc of America Securities where he was an investment banking analyst in the Global Industrials Group. His prior experience also includes analyst positions at Redwood Capital Group (a technology-focused M&A boutique) and Dealogic. Mr. Hanenberg earned a B.S. in economics from Duke University and is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA program at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Thomas joined J.F. Lehman & Company in 2010 as a Senior Analyst. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Thomas was an investment banking analyst in Credit Suisse's Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Mr. Thomas earned a B.A. in economics from Yale University.

Mr. Michaud joined J.F. Lehman & Company in 2011 after five years at J.P. Morgan Securities, where he spent two years as an investment banking analyst in the Diversified Industries Group and three years as a member of the Syndicated & Leveraged Finance and Mid-Corporate Banking teams. Mr. Michaud earned a B.S. in Finance and Management from The Stern School of Business at New York University.

Mr. Silberstein joined the firm in 2011 after working as an investment banking analyst and associate in the Aerospace & Defense Group at Lazard Freres. Previously, he worked for two years at Goldman Sachs in the Industrials Investment Banking Group and as a member of the firm's Investor Relations Team. Mr. Silberstein earned a B.A. in Political Science with an interdisciplinary concentration in International Economics from Yale University.
